Halloween blog hop!!

Good morning and welcome to our Halloween blog hop!  We have severalvery talented ladies who will be sharing fun Halloween projects with you today, to hopefully inspire you to create some Halloween crafts of your own!  If you just happened upon my blog, you are at the beginning, so grab a cup of coffee and enjoy the hop!  There will be some fun giveaways along the way, so be sure to hop by each of the blogs so you don't miss any!

For my project today, I made a BOO banner!  My son is having a trunk or treat at his preschool next week, so I wanted to make it to decorate my trunk!  I went fairly simple but I think it turned out pretty cute - my son loved it and that's all that matters to me!  :-)

I hung it on my mantle for now, so we can enjoy it until we need it for the trunk or treat. My bats didn't want to all fly the same way and with the ceiling fan on, they were all flipping around, as was the BOO, so excuse the pictures! I'm not good at taking banner pics - they are so not easy to photograph!

I embossed the BOO using my Cuttlebug and Seeing Spots embossing folder.

The ghosts and bats were both from Paper Doll Dress Up cricut cart, the BOO was from Robotz - I love that font!!  I used The Twinery twine to string the banner as well as hang the BOO from the banner.  All the cardstock was from my stash.

I'm entering this into Challenge #83 - Spooky Time (create a project with a ghost on it) - at Fantabulous Cricut challenge blog.

I do have a giveaway today, all you have to do to be eligible to win is be a follower of my blog, live in the United States and leave a comment on this post with a way to contact you!  I will draw the winner on Sunday morning, Oct 30!  I couldn't find anything Halloween related that I loved for the giveaway, so I picked up one of my favorite mat stacks instead - the colors are amazing!

Creating Keepsakes convention

I went to CKC past weekend and it was awesome, I really enjoyed myself!!  I took 2 classes - 15 minute pages where we did 4 LOs in an hour and a Scrapbooking technique workshop where we did 10 LOs in 3 hrs!!  Or more like we were supposed to finish all those but no one did, I think I came home with one completed LO - it was just moving too quickly to be able to finish!  But the important part is that we learned all kinds of new techniques and we can finish the LOs on our own some other time.

Then I volunteered as a helper in 4 classes that Quick Quotes presented - the teacher was Lisa, she's their blog coordinator and such a great teacher!  Though it was a lot of running around over the course of 6 hours, I did enjoy getting to meet women who share the same passion as I do, as well as helping them and learning some tricks myself!

I also did a little shopping in the vendor fair but I didn't go crazy - there were so many people, that it was hard to really look at all the different products, so I only bought a few things that I couldn't live without, including these Powder Puff chalking inks that Quick Quotes make!!  After seeing everyone use them in the classes, I knew I had to have them.  Everyone raved about them, so I was sold and the $10 off coupon I had for them didn't hurt!  ;-)  And after using them last night, I'm so glad I got them!!

I hope to get pictures taken of everything I got and once I finish all the LOs, I will post those as well!  But the week is moving entirely too quickly and now with working the next couple of nights, it will be the weekend before I have any time to play!

So if CKC comes near you, I definitely recommend going!  I'm looking forward to going next year again and hopefully taking more classes!

Don't forget about my Halloween blog hop tomorrow - it starts here bright and early and there will be some fun giveaways!  See you tomorrow!!

Scary Halloween To You!!

I made a fun Halloween card today - I loved how it turned out!

The spider and spiderweb were cut from Paper Doll Dress Up cricut cart, the tag I cut from CTMH Art Philosophy.  I inked everything using my new Powder Puff chalking inks that I LOVE!  The spider web paper is from DCWV 'Amber Autumn' stack, the cardstock is from Recollections, the twine from The Twinery.  The sentiment stamps on the inside and out are from CTMH, as well as the cat stamp on the inside.

I covered the spider in Liquid Glass from CTMH, it gave it a fun look and made it stand out from the spider web.  I was trying to figure out how to make his eyes, nose and mouth stand out so I tried stickles to fill in those spots - its a little cheesy for my taste but since I will probably give it to my son for Halloween, I don't mind because it makes it a happy spider vs a scary one!

I'm entering this into the Cricut 360º Spooky Halloween Blog Hop and Challenge - it was a fun blog hop where you had to get the key word from each blog along the hop to figure out what the challenge was!

Thanks for stopping by!!  Don't forget about my Halloween blog hop, this Thursday, Oct 27 - it starts here!  Have a great week and I'll see you on Thursday!

Cake birthday card

I made this card for my SILs birthday next month, I won a Basic Grey paper pack from the Cricut 360 challenge blog awhile back and was dying to use it!  I found this sketch in my saved sketches - I really like it and think I'll be using it a lot more!

I love this print paper and wanted it to be the main part of the card and with all the paper being from the same stack, it all coordinated perfectly!  I used a black card base from DCWV, black hemp from CTMH, birthday cake stamp from CTMH, the scalloped strips and scalloped circle were both cut from CTMH Art Philosophy.  I inked the edges of everything with Tim Holtz 'Pumice Stone' distress ink.

I put a strip of the same patterned paper on the inside and stamped it with 2 sentiment stamps - the one on left is from SU and the one on the right is from Pink By Design.

Don't forget my friend Chris is trying to reach 500 followers to do a giveaway, she's having a magazine inspired challenge and a challenge to cut fabric with your cricut - stop by and find out how you can participate!  She always has so many fun challenges on her blog, I need to get busy and do them!

Also, Candy at Candy's Craft Corner is celebrating her 100+ followers and having a giveaway, so stop by and see how you can win!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

Have the Hoppy-Est Birthday!

I made this card for my niece's 3rd birthday, thought it was perfect for her spunky personality!

Instead of an envelope, I thought I would do something different and attach ribbon to the back and tie it to keep it closed, then she can untie it to read the inside! So it serves as his collar as well as an open/close on the card! :)

I used cardstock from my scrap pile and the ribbon I found in my stash - its hard to see in the picture but it has black, pink and green stripes, so it matched perfectly!

The frog is from Create A Critter cricut cart, the sentiment stamp is from My Pink Stamper 'Buggy Punnies' and the inside sentiment is from Hero Arts.  I used my gypsy to weld two frogs together to form the card base then I cut another one in green to make the card front and another one in pink to make the inside pretty!

I'm entering this into the following challenges...
Bitten By The Bug 2 - Create A Critter frog challenge
Birthday Sundaes - Challenge #29: Ribbon birthday cards
You Had Me At Craft - Week #17: Made It Myself Mondays

Thanks to everyone who responded to my post about my Halloween blog hop - I have enough people now, its going to be fun!!  I will be in touch soon with more details!  :)

Have a great weekend!

Hat thank you card

My parents brought the boys both a hat when they came back from vacation last month - a cowboy hat for my 3 yr old and a fedora for my 1 yr old - they both look adorable in them!  My 3yr old son promptly told them thank you but added "now I need a horse!" - and I found out last night when talking to my mom, that he will soon get his wish, as they are on the hunt for a pony for him to keep at their house!  These boys have them wrapped around their little fingers!!  My parents have an 80 acre farm with horses and cows, which my 3 yr old loves to visit, but all the horses they have now are too big for the kids to ride, so they want to get a pony that is just for the grandkids - they will all be super excited when they find out!

I went fairly simple for this card - both the hats are from Paper Doll Dress Up, the card base and envelope (not shown) are from CTMH Art Philosophy, the sentiment stamps are from the CTMH 'Thank You' set, the twine from The Twinery, the hemp (on the cowboy hat) is from CTMH, and the cardstock is all from my stash.

Thanks for stopping by, hope you are having a great weekend!
